The purpose of an Audiology Report is to help parents, interventionists, and physicians understand an individual’s hearing status. Sometimes it is difficult for an audiologist to write a report that is meaningful and useful to all three audiences, which can make the report difficult to understand as a parent.

An audiogram is a graph that shows the softest sounds a person can hear at different pitches or frequencies. The closer the marks are to the top of the graph, the softer the sounds that person can hear. Where the patient’s results fall on the audiogram indicate the different degrees of hearing loss.

    All audiologists earn a master’s degree in their field. Some audiologists go on to earn a doctor of audiology degree, which is the equivalent of a PhD, but it is not a medical degree. They are a doctor in the sense that they have a doctorate. But, they do not undergo full medical training.
