Replace spark plugs at the recommended mileage to reduce the amount of unburned fuel in the combustion chamber. Use a premium quality fuel with added detergents to help keep engine parts clean from deposits. Add a fuel system cleaner to maintain the condition of the GDi system.
What is the problem with GDI engines?
Since inception, (GDI) engines have had known problems with; build-up of cooked fuel deposits that foul injectors. As the deposits accrue over time and mileage; the engine’s timing can be altered. Carbon builds up on the backside of the valves, can alter ignition timing and the engine’s firing order.
Who uses GDI?
In 2018, the KTM 300 EXC TPI, KTM 250 EXC TPI, Husqvarna TE250i and Husqvarna 300i became the first two-stroke motorcycles to use GDI.
